Who is Jesus?

The Bible says Jesus is the "the Son of God." He humbled Himself and became man ("Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on the cross!")
--Philippians 2:6-8

Jesus lived a sinless life ("...but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.")
--Hebrews 4:15b

He was crucified, being nailed to a cross ("And they crucified him").
--Mark 15:24

He was buried, and rose from the dead ("The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.' ")
--Matthew 28:5-6.

The Bible reveals that mankind does not do everything right all the time ("for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God")
--Romans 3:23

The Bible calls that 'sin.' The Bible also tells us that the penalty for sin is death ("For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.")
--Romans 6:23.

The Good News is, God sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sin ("For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
--John 3:16.

According to the Scriptures, Jesus's death paid the penalty for our sins. ("God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
--Romans 5:8.

If we believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead, we can become a child of God ("Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.")
--John 1:12.

Have you received Christ as your Savior?

Here is how you can receive Christ:

  • Admit your need (admit you are a sinner).
  • Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
  • Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
  • Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit.
  • Simply pray a prayer similar to this one:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. ---In Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, and trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior,

Congratulations!

This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should:

  • Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better. Start with the Gospel of John.
  • Talk to God in prayer every day. Bring all your troubles and worries to the Lord.
  • Tell others about Christ.
  • Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where the Bible is taught and Christ is preached.
  • Demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.

May the Lord bless you in your new life with Jesus!
